In my most current work of ‘Orb Heads’, each oil painting bridges the gap from historical time periods to modern day through the juxtaposition of vibrant designs and traditional renderings of flesh and form. Allowing ritual and divination to bury itself into special elements within still-life objects and adornments such as clothing, body art and jewelry. A “Cabinet of curiosities”, a Wunderkammer, so to say. These ‘Orb Heads’ create a bit of mystery. They begin to speak their own language through the mess of swirling colors and pattern. With each orb expressing its own vibration iteratively, expanding its self outward to areas contained within the canvas surface.
